Mortgage Broker Wellington

Mortgage Broker Wellington

Independent mortgage advice for Wellington CBD, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Johnsonville, and all of New Zealand.

Wellington mortgage expertise

Orange Network is an independent mortgage broker and financial adviser serving Wellington, the Hutt Valley, Porirua, and clients nationwide. We compare 16+ lenders — major banks and specialist funders — to find home loan structures that match your goals, whether you are buying in the CBD, refinancing in Lower Hutt, or building an investment portfolio.

Our team is based on the Kapiti Coast at Paraparaumu and regularly meets Wellington clients in person, at home, or over video. Richard Banks and our adviser team have helped first home buyers, investors, and business owners across the Wellington region for more than 15 years.

Beyond mortgages, we provide insurance, KiwiSaver, and business lending advice under one roof — so a settled mortgage can flow naturally into insurance and KiwiSaver reviews without starting from scratch with a new provider.

The region is not one market

A Wellington CBD apartment, a family house in Karori, a first home in Porirua, and a place in the Hutt Valley go to lenders with different habits. Body corporate fees change an apartment file. A do-up in Wainuiomata is a different security from a new build in Petone. We say which of those you actually have before the application goes in.

Johnsonville, Tawa, and Porirua sit on the train line north. A lot of those buyers are weighing a Wellington commute against a move further up to the Kapiti Coast. We do both, from the same team.

How a Wellington appointment works

The office is at Coastlands in Paraparaumu, about 45 minutes from the CBD when the road is clear. Most Wellington clients would rather we came to them, at home or at work, or met on video. Say which when you book.

The first meeting is income, debts, and the deposit. Pre-approval usually lasts about 60 to 90 days. If KiwiSaver is part of the deposit, the withdrawal and the loan have to be timed together. The First Home Grant closed on 22 May 2024.

Bring this, not a property brochure

Photo ID, recent payslips, or two years of financial statements if you are self-employed. A list of debts, including buy-now-pay-later and the limit on a card you pay off. A KiwiSaver statement if that balance is the deposit.

If this is a refinance, bring the loan statement and the date the fixed rate ends. Ninety days before that date is the useful time to start. Two weeks is late.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you meet clients in Wellington CBD?
Yes. Our advisers travel throughout Wellington including CBD, Hutt Valley, Porirua, and Johnsonville. We also offer virtual meetings if that is easier.
Are you independent from banks?
Yes. We compare 16+ lenders and are not tied to any single bank — our recommendation is based on your file, not a sales target.
How much does mortgage advice cost in Wellington?
Mortgage advice is free to you. Orange Network is paid a commission by the lender when your loan settles.
Can you help with a first home in Wellington?
Yes. We guide first home buyers through pre-approval, KiwiSaver withdrawal timing, and lender selection — in plain language, step by step.
Do you handle investment property finance in Wellington?
Yes. We structure lending for rental and investment properties, including portfolio reviews and refinancing for existing investors.
Where is your office?
Our office is at Level 1 Takiri House, Coastlands, 150 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu — about 45 minutes north of Wellington CBD. Many Wellington clients prefer we come to them.
When should I start a refinance?
About 90 days before the fixed rate ends. That leaves time to compare your own bank with a move, including any break cost or legal fee.
Can you help if I work in the CBD and want to buy on the Kapiti Coast?
Yes. That is a common file. The same advisers cover Wellington and the Kapiti towns, in person or on video.
